[LOCALS ONLY]: Watch Out, NYC. D.C. is Coming for your "America's Favorite City" Crown.

What do you think of when you think Washington D.C.? Suits? Capitol Hill? The 'yuge' political campaign? If so, let me steer you into a different mindset. Food. Lifestyle. Culture. Washington D.C. is easily becoming one of the coolest places to shop, eat, and take selfies that the nation has to offer.

1. Favorite Shopping Spot: Tysons Corner Mall

Need some retail therapy? Well then, Tyson's Corner Mall is perfect for you. With  an amazing selection of stores, you'll be preoccupied from the time you walk in, to the time you walk out. In fact, Tyson's boasts a large amount of cool restaurants, and even an AMC movie theater, if you like a relaxing way to end the shopping trip!

2. Favorite Brand: Hugh & Crye

With a city that's filled with expensive, tailored suits, Hugh & Crye are changing the face of menswear for D.C. Not only do their suits offer a urban twist, their street clothes are fabulously designed, quirky and fun. Their button downs, pictured above, are my personal favorite as the material is breathable and long-lasting. Don't worry ladies, you too can wear these awesome shirts! Made for either gender, Hugh & Crye is expanding their streetwear to suit every person.

3. Favorite Place to Eat: Thunder Burger & Bar

Looking for a quick bite to eat in Georgetown? Look no farther. Thunder Burger & Bar is one of the best places to grab some grub. These burgers are far from the traditional beef burgers your dad grills. Ranging from sandwiches called "Pig in a Cow Suit," to "Learning to Fly," these crazy burgers will have you craving them nightly. Not into red meat? Don't worry! TB&B has plenty of options, from turkey to veggie!

4. Favorite Place to Take a #selfie: Tidal Basin

The Tidal Basin is one of the most famous spots in D.C. From engagement photos, to selfies, the Tidal Basin is the perfect backdrop for that picture. The water reflects all the gorgeous trees, and no matter what season it is, it creates a magical background. The cherry on the top? On the other side of the Basin is the Jefferson Memorial. It adds the D.C. touch to any selfie!

5. Favorite Place(s) to Drink: J.Paul's

J.Paul's is a great way to end a day. Located on M street, J.Paul's is situated along a street of bars and restaurants. What makes J.Paul's so special, is their small space and cosy environment. Whether you are a mixed drink lover, or more of a beer drinker, there is something for you! I recommend stopping in for brunch on Saturday or Sunday! Along with great food, J.Paul's offers bottomless Mimosas or Bloody Marys!

Whether you are a fan of Thunder Burger & Bar for a tasty meal, or J.Pauls for a pint, you have to admit, D.C. isn't as stuffy as it looks. In fact, the Nation's Capitol might just turn into the nation's coolest city.
